In the clubs, I was pretty well-known for sweeping people through an exit door. I would step in a good left half horse, bring my right hand up, chop the throat, and grab it. Then circle around his right foot, sweep back between his legs with my right foot, and throw with my right hand. It worked EVERY SINGLE TIME!
Guy talking smack trying to get back into the club, SWEEP. No time to argue, SWEEP, "and get him out of here." Guy threatening, SWEEP. Guy with a weapon, SWEEP. Many, many, many times. Same outcome. It was a very natural movement for me, and I do it extremely fast.
I have this "program" I would teach doormen called the "Holy Trinity" of doorman moves. Of course, I learned them in Master Paul Schroder's class in parts of other lessons, and just diffused them down to my actual application when I worked the door. I will post the other two later. But the sweep this way always worked FOR ME; and a few other guys I taught. Most of the time when I would SWEEP a guy, he would get up, talk a little smack from a safe distance, and then just walk away. That was always the best out come.
Anyway, so this one guy that I swept, got up and keep talking smack. He wouldn't go away, but kept his distance just outside the door. Finally, he goes, "bet you cannot do that to me again." I laughed and told him to just go away. Instead, he foolishly rushed at me. I responded by sweeping him down again, except this time I came in on my right. Opposite side, but same technique. This time he hit the ground REALLY hard! He staggered up and I said, "Well I did it to you again, so just get the heck out of here before I do it again." He stormed off with the usual threat of coming back with a gun, but I never saw him again.
My point being, to those resisting opponents arguments, this guy knew what I was going to do. He came at me with FULL RESISTANCE. And he still took his fall the same way he did the first time. The thing about Kung-Fu San Soo training, we get our techniques down so well, from training them so much, that it doesn't matter if you are resisted against or not. Proper Kung-Fu San Soo is really hard to defend against in a street fight. And, on top of that, 9 out of 10 times, they react just the way we practice it. It helps me very much to prepare my next move, and be prepared for the way that he is going to move. My two cents on the subject; from my personal experience, anyway. _________________ "It's a Street Fighter's art. I teach the art of walking away...one way or another." |

When I read your post, I couldn't help but think of Devo's song Whip It. So with apologies to Devo for changing the lyrics to their classic song, here is my version of Whip It inspired by your post.
| Devo wrote: | crack that wimp
give the punch the slip
step on a coccyx
break your opponent's back
when a problem comes along
you must sweep it
before the creep flaps his gums too long
you must sweep it
when someone's doing you wrong
you must sweep it
now sweep it
into shape
sweep it up
get straight
go forward
move ahead
try to detect it
it's not too late
to sweep it
sweep it good
when your opponent turns you around
you must sweep it
you will never live it down
unless you sweep it
no one gets away
until they sweep it
I say sweep it
sweep it good
I say sweep it
sweep it good
crack that wimp
give the punch the slip
step on a coccyx
break your opponent's back
when a problem comes along
you must sweep it
before the creep flaps his gums too long

P.S. It's all in good fun. Don't take me too seriously! _________________ Hit First...Hit Hard...Hit Often...and Finish Him Off! |

NICE! ROTFLMFAO! Hey man, that is a great rendition worthy of making a YouTube video out of! With some decent directing and editing, we can get into a club and film it! Panning back and forth from the studio, to the club, to the street, back to the studio, IT WOULD BE AWESOME!
San Soo Sifu, I got thick skin and very upbeat most of the time. I don't offend easily, I am very composed these days. BACK THEN when I was bouncing, yes a little uptight. I was very Cobra Kai-esque (Master Paul Schroder broke me of that, however, along with the years of working that scene). I think it is pretty cool that I inspired that much thought!
It came out great, man. BEST use of the word "wimp" in years, HANDS DOWN! Heck, I haven't even heard that word in years! Even got a "flapping gums" in there! Fantastic! _________________ "It's a Street Fighter's art. I teach the art of walking away...one way or another." |
